Top Marks for Waverley in our ISI Inspection
Waverley Nursery Rated as 'Outstanding'
We are thrilled to announce that, once again, Waverley achieved ‘top marks’ in its recent ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) inspection. The 4-day inspection took place in February 2024 and covered all age groups within the School and Nursery i.e. Babies through to Year 6.
We are delighted to advise that Waverley Nursery was awarded the highest possible category of ‘Outstanding’. Our Prep school was awarded the highest result achievable by being 100% compliant in all areas.
Waverley was inspected under the new inspection framework which only came into effect in September 2023 – in light of this, the result is therefore even more impressive and is an immense credit to everyone - staff, children and parents. Under this new framework, all aspects at Waverley were deemed to be compliant and meeting the new updated regulations. For clarification, under this new inspection system, Nurseries are still awarded a named classification (i.e. ‘Inadequate’, ‘Requires Improvement’, ‘Good’ or ’Outstanding’) but schools are not. As all schools are re-inspected over time, classifications for schools will therefore gradually be phased out. To view the ISI report for Waverley please click here.
The inspection involved 4 days of intense scrutiny of the school’s teaching, academic performance and pupil class work. Pupils’ social and well-being development was also assessed.
Waverley is delighted that our 100% rating continues as our previous inspection (January 2022) was rated as ‘Double Excellent’ in all categories (the highest possible grade). This previous inspection was inspected under the former framework which graded schools with a one-word inspection classification ('Double Excellent', 'Excellent', 'Good' etc). The ISI no longer uses a single overarching judgement on a school.
