Maths Challenge

On Tuesday 29th January four of our Year Six mathematics took part in the Annual Eagle House Maths

Challenge Competition. Competitors come from schools near and far and this year there were 188 of

them  - even more than previous years.

The challenge is a thrilling combination of mental maths, clever ways with arithmetic and also some

interesting problem solving tasks, all things we love here at Waverley!

The two teams, Maddie and Yemo and Nik and Aleksandar worked extremely well together and and

were not put off by the fierce competition and intense focus needed over the two hour stretch.

After a nail biting wait for the scores to be totalled, we learned that the winning team was in row F

(so were we!) and had an even numbered table (and so did we!) and then we were delighted to hear

that the winning team was.......Waverley!

Well done to Nik and Alaksandar who achieved an absolutely magnificent score and were way in

front of the competition. Maddie and Yemo did not let the team down though and scored enough

points to place a very respectable eleventh - super! All of the children behaved beautifully and were an

absolute credit to the school, thank you all.
