Reminders
Woodley Festival
This weekend the 2013 Woodley Festival gets underway with the Choir category. Letters have been sent home this week via the children to all those pupils taking part in the Choir section, giving times, parking arrangements and location details. Please check your child’s bag if you have not seen it as yet.
We would like to give our best wishes to all our pupils taking part over the next few weekends across all the categories which include singing, instrumental solos, verse and prose reading, together with mime.
Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre Information Morning
Waverley is hosting a free information morning for parents, tomorrow, Saturday 2nd March between 10:00am and 12:30pm.
The session is aimed at helping parents and carers support children with Dyslexia and related literacy difficulties. There will be a presentation giving more information about Dyslexia. You will also have the opportunity to discuss problems with other parents and carers and speak in confidence to a trained specialist professional.
Please contact the Helen Arkell Centre if you would like to attend tomorrow Tel: 01252 792400 or email:enquires@arkellcentre.org.uk
Meals Survey
Thank you to those parents who have completed our Meal Survey. The closing date is Monday 4th March if you have not already completed the survey we would be grateful of your feedback at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2JP3Y87
Equine Statement
In response to recent food labelling and ingredient issues our butcher, John Sheppard Butchers Ltd, have released a statement reassuring clients of their rigorous Quality Assurance procedures. This statement will be placed on the kitchen door for parents to read next week.
World Book Day
Next Thursday 7th March is World Book Day. We would like to ask all the children and staff to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring the book with them.
We will hold a World Book Day parade and all the children will receive house points.
Parents Tour and Discussion Morning
Letters will be going out next week to invite parents in for a preview of the new After School Club, Cookery, and Music and Drama facilities.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss the continued development of the curriculum over the past year and to discuss development plans for the coming years.
There will be two sessions available:
Afternoon session – Friday 15th March from 2:30 – 3:30pm
Morning Session – Thursday 28th March from 2:30 to 3:30pm
Uniform Labelling
Could we please remind parents that all items of uniform must be labelled clearly.
Comic Relief / Red Nose Day – Friday 15th February
This year we are aiming to make a very large ‘Waverley Red Nose’ by asking the pupils and staff to wear red to school on Red Nose Day. We will then take an aerial photograph of ‘our’ nose!
The children will also take part in fun activities during the afternoon which are being organised by Year 6.
We would be very grateful for a £1 donation from each child, although you may give more if you would like to. Your donations go towards giving shelter to young people in the UK living on the streets and protection to those living with domestic abuse. The money raised is also used in Africa going towards saving thousands from malaria and providing whole communities with fresh water and life-saving vaccines.
