Waverley Announces Chromebook Roll-Out to Every Pupil from Year 3-6
Waverley Preparatory School is delighted to announce that all children in Years 3 to 6 will be given their own, individual Chromebook, with the roll-out having already started. This will enable all Waverley Key Stage 2 children to have access to their own personal Chromebook whether for homework, in a Prep session at school or whilst in classroom lessons. The Chromebooks will be the pupil’s own personal device for their remaining time at Waverley. The Prep School will be one of only a few primary settings that ensures all pupils have this level of digital access.
The roll-out of Chromebooks is being funded entirely by the school.
Mr Guy Shore, Head of Waverley, explained, ‘Reflecting on our experiences throughout 2020, and the increased adoption of Google Classroom, we have seen how digital learning can significantly enhance our pupils’ education. This became particularly evident in our pupils’ work ethic and engagement with technology during the period of remote learning this year. Therefore, to ensure all Waverley pupils can develop their digital skills as independent learners, it was felt that all pupils in Years 3-6 would benefit immensely from their own Chromebooks.’
‘A pupil’s Chromebook will become as important as a pencil case’, Mr Shore continued. ‘The importance of preparing our children for their digital future has become vital and the Governing Board has recognised this by investing in a personal Chromebook for every child in Years 3 – 6, and an additional set of class Chromebooks for Key Stage 1 (Reception to Year 2).’
