Gifted and Talented 

Pre-Prep School (Ages 4-7 Yrs)

The encouragement of critical and creative thinking takes place from Foundation throughout the Pre-Preparatory Department. Our bespoke "thinking tools" provide a framework for higher order thinking across the curriculum. 

Small class sizes and an individual approach to each child's learning means that children who show academic potential can be identified early and their progress monitored to ensure every child continues to make progress. High expectations of all children along with a good grounding in basic skills mean that children have an opportunity to move quickly through the curriculum.

Children are able to begin instrument lessons from Reception and those showing musical talent are encouraged to begin Grade exams. Sports and Speech & Drama skills are taught and individual talents in these areas are nurtured.

Prep School (Ages 7-11 Yrs)

The Preparatory Department is a busy and bustling place to be. There are many opportunities for our able pupils to extend their learning through our stimulating, enriched curriculum.

Working in partnership with NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education), we believe that aspirational provision for able gifted talents students raises standards and levels of achievement for all. A high challenge curriculum for all learners promotes independent thinking, creativity and problem solving and ensures our 'more able' pupils are not given “more of the same” but instead, quality, higher order tasks.

Pupils identified as 'more able' are monitored and tracked by the More Able and Talented Co-ordinator who provides support and oversees a programme of enrichment designed for the 'more able' learner, including regular opportunities to take part in competitions, independent projects and extension tasks. Our examination preparation classes mean that our pupils are well equipped for entrance examinations and scholarships for selective Independent and Grammar Schools at 11+.

There are plenty of opportunities to showcase talent for our musical, dramatic and sporting children. Year upon year, the pupils succeed in competitions, festivals, external examinations and at home in our fantastic school performances.
